Review: Weleda Tinted Lip Balms

When I read on Twitter that Weleda were bringing out a new range of Weleda Tinted Lip Balms I was so pleased that one of my favourite natural beauty brands was branching out into colour cosmetics. As a lip balm addict, I didn't need to think twice when asked if I wanted to try some of the Tinted Lip Balms. Weleda kindly sent me a Nude and a Red Berry to try out. (There is a rose colour available too). I also received a cute organic cotton bag made by a production co-operative in India which helps fund education for the children of the cotton growers.

Be a Shade Greener verdict: Weleda Tinted Lip Balms

Firstly, with a lip balm you want to feel like it's improving the condition of your lips. These lip balms are instantly soothing and moisturising due to the organic shea butter and organic jojoba oil. They have a creamy and lightweight texture so you don't feel like you're wearing anything on your lips.

The sheer colour goes on smoothly and evenly to give a uniform colour across my lips. Weleda Tinted Lip Balms don't give a high gloss finish but instead a lovely natural shine which is what I prefer.

I love that it's non-sticky so when it's been blowing a gale, my hair hasn't ended up plastered to my lips as has happened with other lip balms.

These tinted lip balms are fantastic. They nourish and protect whilst subtly enhancing my lips with a hint of colour. I'm more into a natural look so it's perfect for me and for you if you like a no-make-up look. Due to the subtlety of the shades, I think all three colours will suit anyone. My favourite is the berry red version which gives a “just bitten” look. So if you want to try one, I definitely recommend the berry red although the nude is great too adding a pinky brown sheen. I'm going to order a rose one next.

If your little girl, is wanting to wear make-up this is a great introduction to lip colour and you'll know that it's petroleum-free and doesn't contain any harmful ingredients.

The lip balms are also versatile so you can try applying one on top of the other to create a different look or apply one on top of a lipstick for a subtle sheen. Make-up artist, Maria Samuel also suggests dabbing them on the upper cheekbone as “a gorgeous dewy highlighter”.
