Milia are small white bumps or spots trapped beneath the surface of the skin which usually appear around the eyes, eyelids or cheeks. This condition occurs when dead skin cells cannot properly exfoliate. Milia are actually keratin-filled cysts. Keratin is a protein that provides strength in the skin that appears under the epidermis.
They are sometimes referred to as ‘milk spots'.
